About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Children and Women's Health Program. The Ward Clerk II responsibilities include:

  • Patient registration
  • Filing
  • Processing physician orders
  • Distribution of reports
  • Data entry on NSHiS
  • Typing correspondence and reports using medical terminology
  • Receipt and distribution of mail
  • Maintaining workload and statistical data
  • Other job related duties
About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Graduate of a business, office information technology, medical office assistant, secretarial course or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Computer training or experience with various office and business software
  • Medical Terminology required
  • Computer and typing experience required
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with typing and a variety of computer software and programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position
  • Good work and attendance record
  • Knowledge of inventory control and record keeping an asset
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSH patients and clients
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSH
  • The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values of St. Martha's Regional Hospital
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - 21.90 hourly
