What we are looking for:
The Unit Clerk works independently with our inter-professional team, to provide reception and clerical support. Primary responsibilities will include:Acknowledging, receiving and directing patients, visitors, other hospital personnel and external partners in a professional manner
Providing clerical support including: transcribing Physician orders, coordinating meals/snacks for patients, filing, photocopying, faxing, assembling, maintaining patient charts, supporting the nursing staff and payroll entry as directed
The successful candidate may be required to be cross trained and provide coverage between ED Registration and the inpatient unit as needed.
What you bring to the role:Previous Unit Clerk experience in a hospital setting
Sound knowledge of medical terminology
Strong computer/typing skills, Meditech experience is preferred
Ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment is essential
Strong customer service focus is also required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:
The successful candidate must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, with flexibility to cover additional shifts as required. The primary shift is expected to be 11.25 hours evenings - 10:00am - 10:00pm.
