Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations Centre, the Vulnerability and Penetration Testing Specialist is responsible to perform system reviews, including penetration and vulnerability testing and/or threat intelligence analytics as well as moderate to complex system analysis. The Specialist contributes to the design, development, and implementation of countermeasures, system integrations, testing tools, standards, and policies specific to security vulnerability management.

Responsibilities:

  • The Vulnerability and Penetration Testing Specialist will conduct network, software, and cloud vulnerability and penetration testing utilizing various industry-based tools as well as reverse engineering techniques
  • The Specialist recommends various methods of mitigation and resolution options to isolate, block or remove threats
  • This position also will evaluate system security configurations, providing feedback on best practices and policy adjustments
  • In addition, this position will assist the other security specialists and analysts to determine indications of compromise, perform and report on root cause analysis, and resolves highly complex malware and intrusion issues
  • The Specialist contributes to the design, development, and implementation of countermeasures, system integrations, testing tools, standards, and policies specific to security vulnerability management
  • The Specialist may work with projects to look at controls that may need to be put in place, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the controls afterward
  • Monitors and assesses vulnerabilities and exploits to ensure preventative measures are taken to protect the business, this can be within any of our platforms, including cloud services
  • Leads the investigations of security vulnerabilities and/or breaches. Works with other departments to provide consultation regarding their security concerns
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Seven years in the IT industry, including four years of related experience supporting Information Security issues and controls, with two years providing vulnerability and penetration testing services
  • Knowledge of business application processes and development
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines
  • Advanced analytical and investigative skills with regard to moderately complex to complex issues
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to relate to others with all levels of technical competency
  • Advanced knowledge of operational processing
