Annual salary: $257,000 - $279,000


Position Highlights



As Vice-President, Project Delivery, you will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of a multi-billion dollar


portfolio of generation, transmission and substation projects. At any time, Project Delivery is managing 300+ projects in


various phases, from early identification through in-service close- out, ranging in cost from $1M to more than $1B.




Reporting to the Senior Vice President - Capital Infrastructure Project Delivery, the Vice President, Project Delivery leads a


team of professionals with diverse roles and backgrounds towards the vision of being a leading project delivery organization


that completes projects on time, on budget and safely. You will represent BC Hydro in strategic vendor and service provider


business relationships; sensitive consultation and negotiations with First Nations, regulators and stakeholders; project risk


and contingency management; and lead development of the portfolio, program and project management framework,


policies, controls and standards.


What you'll do




Collaborate with senior leaders across BC Hydro to ensure we are effective in meeting BC Hydro's overall goals


Lead and develop a team of project directors, technical and other professionals, holding them accountable for deliverables


Drive Innovation and Scalable Solutions: Collaborate across groups to implement effective processes for a variety of
project types with a commitment to continuous improvement and a recognition of BC Hydro's mandate from the Province




Lead planning and delivery of generation, dam safety, transmission and substation, distribution, telecom and
interconnection projects and related programs




Champion Safety, Sustainability, and Operational Excellence: Ensure plans prioritize worker safety, environmental
stewardship, and industry best practices




Builds and maintains relationships with First Nations across the province, in support of capital projects and in keeping with
BC Hydro's First Nations strategy and First Nations-related objectives




Build Strategic Partnerships: Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, including
government agencies, Indigenous communities, regulatory bodies, and business leaders




Ensure that capital projects are delivered in a manner that supports BC Hydro's overall environmental objectives


Ensure appropriate delivery models and resource augmentation are selected to achieve the desired outcome for projects


Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptation: Inspire and lead a workforce that values collaboration, diverse
perspectives, taking smart business risks, and continuous improvement that aligns with the urgency of our province's needs




Monitor, Report, and Influence Executive Decision-Making: Reports out to the Executive Team and Board of Directors on
results against plan, and major capital projects generally Represents Project Delivery and BC Hydro at external events



Fosters a culture of teamwork, innovation, resilience and continuous improvement

What you bring




Leadership Experience: A minimum of 15 years large capital project management experience in positions of increasing
responsibility, including at least 10 years of senior management experience, ideally within a regulated environment




Depth in project management: A proven track record of successfully leading and directing multidisciplinary project teams
with large capital projects involving multiple stakeholders, ideally within a regulated environment




Demonstrated experience as a business, project or technical leader/director in an engineering, construction or major
equipment supplier's organization




Exceptional skills and experience in collaboration, mediation, negotiation and presentation


Conversant with the planning, design, equipment/material procurement and construction processes required to deliver
major capital projects




Exceptional business acumen: conversant with financial, accounting, marketing and general business management
practices. Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business administration, economics, or equivalent




Exceptional Communication and Influence: Ability to engage and inspire teams at all levels, from frontline employees to
the Executive Leadership team and Board of Directors, senior government staff, technical staff, trades people, and special


interest groups




Safety-First Leadership Mentality: Strong understanding of safety programs and the ability to instill a culture of operational
risk management and compliance




Ability to lead/coach/mentor project directors, project managers and senior technical staff


Experience leading a team through culture change with a focus on agility, right sizing risk and changing processes to
improve speed of project execution




Registration as a Professional Engineer, or equivalent, is preferred


Project Management Certification or equivalent experience is preferred
