Position Overview

The VP Product Development is accountable for the five year strategic roadmap for SI\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio of Software Products. This includes the architecture, design, development and maintenance of cost-effective, high-performance, and secure enterprise Operations Support Systems and solutions that support and enable the five year corporate strategic plan. As part of the SI Senior Leadership team, this role contributes to the overall management and strategic direction of the corporation.
In addition to product development, this role is also accountable for IT governance, enterprise architecture, and business process automation within the corporation.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Accountable for the five year product strategy and technical roadmap for all SI products while ensuring alignment with five year corporate strategy. Defines and evolves the strategic product roadmaps to meet the current and future needs of the Communication Service Providers.
2. Defines strategies and standards for all aspects of product development including architecture, design, development, and
maintenance. Ensures alignment with industry standards such as TMF standards framework.
3. Establishes practical, cost-effective and innovative strategic plans and architectural frameworks for the orderly and successful introduction, management and retirement of technologies, standards and solutions to meet the changing and dynamic needs of the market.
4. Designs and maintains SI\xe2\x80\x99s product release schedule based on customer requirements, commitments, industry research and best practices along with associated budget, cope, and schedule to ensure SI products are positioned for long term success.
5. Designs and maintains SI\xe2\x80\x99s product release schedule and ensures all SI software products remain competitive and cost-effective.
6. Oversees all aspects of enterprise architecture including technology standards, best practices, and frameworks focused on developing highly competitive, cost-effective, and flexible products.
7. Contributes to the design and implementation of product licensing and pricing models to ensure short term and long term financial viability.
8. Evaluates, selects, integrates and maintains key strategic global fulfillment and assurance solution partnerships and vendor relationships necessary to deliver a comprehensive solution suite that will ultimately contribute to meeting both short and long term corporate business strategies.
9. Supports sales by establishing and maintain strategic relationships with clients and defining client specific product roadmaps to ensure long term adoption of SI products.
10. Accountable as the project sponsor for the delivery of all product development projects including capital, expense, and client contracted engagements.
11. Champions corporate innovation and change by fostering an innovative culture that focuses on positioning improving all aspects of SI\xe2\x80\x99s internal operations including product development.
12. Contributes to establishing corporate strategies and priorities to ensure long term viability and success.
13. Ensures appropriate metrics are in place to measure and monitor department effectiveness in achieving
14. Remains aware of the latest technologies, trends and directions in order to ensure technology is current and best fits market requirements.
15. Negotiates and manages complex vendor and actively manages contractor and vendor performance.
16. Provides a supportive work environment that motivates staff by providing regular performance feedback. Assists in staff career planning, development and succession planning to ensure business requirements are met.
17. Accountable for the short and long term financial success of SI by the development and effective execution of the divisional operating and capital budget and by participating as a member of the SI Senior Leadership team providing input and guidance on corporate financial matters.
18. Ensure organizational effectiveness by developing and promoting an organization aligned with the objectives of SI and the Holdco in which each employee is motivated to contribute fully to the success of themselves, SaskTel International and SaskTel Holdco.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. University degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or Technical Institute diploma in Information Technology or equivalent experience in a related position.
2. Extensive experience in a senior management role, with a broad business perspective.
3. Extensive experience in the application of information technology principles and techniques, IT architecture and planning methodologies.
4. Five years experience in the planning, design, development and delivery of enterprise applications.
5. Extensive experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management.
6. In depth knowledge of the Telecommunications, IP a, IS and OSS/BSS technology industries as well as trends in the global competitive marketplace.
7. Demonstrated leadership skills in change management and business planning in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
8. Demonstrated analytical, business and technical leadership in delivering IT products and services.
9. Extensive experience in planning and executing strategic business projects, programs and portfolios.
10. Extensive knowledge of corporate business and finance principles, governance process and communications practices.
11. Strong team leader and member, able to select and develop staff and able to influence the performance of others.
12. Professional written and verbal communications, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality products and services within very tight timeframes while simultaneously overseeing several large projects.
