About the Role:



VitaminLab is a fast-scaling health-tech company specializing in personalized supplements manufactured on demand. Our proprietary software platform powers everything from formulation and fulfillment to practitioner management and e-commerce. We're looking for a

VP of Software Engineering

to lead, stabilize, and scale our technology systems - cleaning up legacy code, strengthening infrastructure, and building a foundation for innovation.

You'll be responsible for technical execution: ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business goals. You'll manage engineering teams, oversee code quality and architecture, and partner closely with leadership to deliver features that move the company forward.You will help plan the technology vision and develop a strategy to move the technology platform of a scalable, secure future that delivers business value.

You will be comfortable communicating with varied stakeholders and developing business cases to support recommendations and align with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:



Set the long-term technology, vision and architecture for the company. Lead and scale the engineering organization - hire, mentor, and retain a high-performing team (software, data, automation and DevOps). Stabilize and modernize the existing tech stack; reduce technical debt and legacy dependencies. Oversee development of proprietary systems: Formulation engine & personalization logic Manufacturing and fulfillment software (ERP/LIMS) Practitioner and consumer APIs Data & analytics infrastructure Ensure the organization keeps pace with engineering best practices - code reviews, CI/CD, testing coverage, version control, and documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Manufacturing, Product, and Data teams. Ensure systems supporting custom formulation, labeling, inventory, and practitioner APIs remain reliable and performant. Ensure data security, regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR), and system reliability. Manage vendor relationships for hosting, third-party integrations, and security compliance. Translate business goals into actionable technical roadmaps and sprints. Partner with leadership to prioritize feature development and technical investments. Drive AI and automation initiatives within the organization and for the software development team.

Qualifications:



8+ years in software development, with 3+ in a leadership or management role. Proven experience managing engineering teams in a SaaS, manufacturing-tech, or health-tech environment. Strong technical background in Python, PHP / Laravel, Ruby / Rails, or modern web stacks. Deep understanding of API development, database design, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps. Experience w/ designing and building cloud architecture for data consolidation and growth Experience with system integrations across ERP, e-commerce, and manufacturing systems. Excellent leadership and communication skills -- able to work with board, investors, and cross-functional teams. Experience in regulated environments (Health Canada/FDA) an asset. Strong project management and communication skills. Startup or scale-up experience preferred.

Compensation:



Base Pay Range:

$125,000-150,000/annually This role may include eligibility for a competitive performance-based bonus structure designed to reward growth, leadership, and impact. Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including
