The main focus of this role is to lead the credit analysis and underwriting process for potential lending opportunities under the newly launched Mid-Corp Sponsor Finance business in MUFG Canada. Conduct thorough risk analysis to determine appropriate credit limits and terms for clients and justify the proposal to internal credit teams. Key Responsibilities: Underwriting / Credit Analysis:
Lead the credit analysis and underwriting process for potential lending opportunities in the Canadian Corporate Banking team including the newly launched Mid-Corp Sponsor Finance business in MUFG Canada.
Assess creditworthiness of corporate clients / businesses / deals and PE sponsors by analyzing industry reports, CIMs, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
Communicate recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders, including presenting and leading all pre-screen and credit committees and discussions.
Conduct thorough risk analysis to determine appropriate credit limits and terms for clients and justify the proposal to internal credit teams.
Collaborate with the Deal Team members to evaluate and structure credit proposals.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal credit policies. Highlight areas where existing policies can be amended to fit the new Mid-Corp Sponsor business in Canada.
Stay updated on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting credit risk.
Attend customer and bank meetings when appropriate.
Any relevant special projects as assigned.
Portfolio Management:
Monitor and manage the ongoing credit risk of assigned portfolios.
Oversee due diligence and regularly scheduled evaluation of a segment of the corporate loan portfolio.
Preparation of detailed credit analyses and required credit applications according to policy including evaluation of corporate, regulatory and industry risk, historical operating/financial performance, projected operating/financial performance and capital structure.
Responsible for the coordination and communication of account information across various constituencies throughout the organization.
Responsible for knowledge of country risk factors on a macro level.
Responsible for knowledge of particular industries and all current events related to their assigned portfolio utilizing internal and external sources.
Technical Skills:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
Strong Modeling skills required to facilitate credit assessment process.
Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and financial modeling skills a must. Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
Experience and Abilities:
Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in credit underwriting within a corporate/commercial banking environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
Strong knowledge of Canadian Mid-Corp space, market terms, key players in the market, relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and Training:
Bachelor\'s or Masters degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Working Conditions:
4 days a week in the office; 1 day from home
Travel not required.
