ABOUT US:

SWAN Vancouver (https://swanvancouver.ca/) is a registered charity and nonprofit organization that operates on the stolen ancestral lands of the x?m??k??y??m (Musqueam), S?wx?wu7mesh (Squamish), and s?lilw?ta? (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We are also honoured to work in the territories of the QayQayt First Nation, Kwantlen, q?ic??y? (Katzie), Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen First Nations, k?ik?????m (Kwikwetlem) and Sto: l? Nation.

Through frontline services and systemic advocacy, SWAN promotes the rights, health, and safety of im/migrant women who are engaged in indoor sex work. Centering safety, rights, self-determination, equity, and integrity, SWAN is an anti-racist, intersectional feminist organization that prioritizes the voices, lived realities, and needs of the im/migrant women we serve. All the women accessing SWAN's services are racialized, and our service, and work are strongly influenced by multiple and varied intersections that im/migrant women experience in their lives, including race, class, age, socioeconomic and immigration status, language, and ability.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

SWAN is looking for Outreach Volunteers who are passionate about SWAN's mission to deliver safer sex supplies and connect with women at massage parlours. Outreach Volunteers are patient, consistent, friendly and they are often a woman's first introduction to SWAN's front-line services, support, and advocacy.



As an Outreach Volunteer at SWAN, you will partner with other volunteers to provide outreach to massage businesses. You will:

Coordinate and complete one outreach route per month with your Outreach partner. Fill out an online Outreach form once Outreach is completed. Attend volunteer meetings every three months.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Ability to communicate clearly and build relationships of trust, including with people of different identities and lived experiences. Ability to lift boxes up to 50lbs. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record, eligible to join Modo (https://www.modo.coop/faqs/am-i-eligible-to-join-modo). Knowledge of issues relating to sex work, im/migration, and/or gender equality. * Proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Japanese is an asset.
