Scope:

Reporting to the Executive Director, and under her/his direction, ensures that the organization's palliative support programs are run in a professional and efficient manner, with attention to confidentiality, safety for clients and volunteers, quality training and appropriate training of volunteers

Duties and Responsibilities:



Maintains the CMH volunteer program through recruitment, selection, interviewing, orientation, evaluation, supervision, scheduling of hospice volunteers, which includes Christine Morrison Hospice and Mission community visiting Volunteers. Assesses volunteers' abilities and ensures that appropriate and meaningful placement of volunteers is achieved. Completes holistic assessments of referred clients in the hospital, home or community and assigns volunteers as appropriate. Schedules hospice volunteer assignments and maintains ongoing liaison with organizations and individuals using hospice volunteers Provides a resource to hospice volunteers by acting as a role model and sharing knowledge and expertise. Provides support, encouragement recognition and debriefing to volunteers by effective regular communication, visits and meetings, as needed. Plan in-services for the volunteers and other special events. Maintain accurate records on volunteers and volunteer assignments, as required. Ensures that the volunteer support system is modified as the need arises. Interprets both the hospice philosophy and the range of services to clients/families and others. Liaises with other care providers and refers to them any questions or concerns that are beyond the scope of the Hospice Society. Acts as a liaison between staff, volunteers, clients and team members in the integrated hospice palliative care program. Regularly and actively participates in, and supports, the Mission Palliative Care Team with the Bereavement Coordinator. Gathers, maintains, evaluates and reports program and volunteer information to the Executive Director for each Board meeting. Records all the volunteer statistics plus his/her own hours worked each month. Maintains a current directory of all volunteers. Provides annual Report to Executive Director. Provides visitations to hospice clients. May provide direct client support in emergency situations when no volunteer visitor is available, and never on a long-term basis. Oversee flower arrangements, watering of indoor plants; oversee appliance repairs, welcome cards, monthly cleaning of toys, weekly cleaning of family fridge at CMH. Process donations for Food for Families, process clothing & donations left by families. Works in conjunction with other staff to prepare, deliver and evaluate the Hospice Volunteer Training Course, Level One a 10 week course, twice a year(one evening a week) Identifies volunteer educational needs and oversees ongoing education and training. Provides opportunities for volunteer appreciation and recognition. Provides input into program budgets and maintains financial accountability. Liaises with other Hospice Societies and organizations as needed. Provides support and assists, as needed the Coordinator of Bereavement Programs and the Coordinator of Administrative & Community Volunteers. Performs other related duties as required. Oversee all social media and website postings
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$26.00 per hour
