About the Role:





Our drop-in programs for children, youth and families provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space to build a foundation for physical fitness that will last a lifetime by helping kids get active and have fun. As a Child & Youth Volunteer, you will support members as they strive to reach their potential and work toward their personal goals. You will also support the delivery of various child and youth and child-minding programs offered within the YMCA by building positive relationships with members, support staff and other volunteers.


Responsibilities:




Be positive, helpful and welcoming at all times. Support children and youth with a healthy experience to learn and play in a safe environment. Coach and actively supervise children during scheduled programs/child-minding. Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed. Support staff in delivering structured age-appropriate programs that aims to develop participants' skills in a fun way. Assist with game play by taking attendance, keeping score and/or refereeing when applicable and set up/take down of program areas. Work with parents regarding their feedback, and concerns. Build relationships with members and introduce them to other members, staff and volunteers.

Qualifications:




Minimum 15 years of age A friendly, energetic and positive attitude Interest or experience working with and/or caring for children and youth Volunteers age 18 and above will need to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search e before their first day of volunteering and every three years thereafter.
