About Caritas School of Life, is a leading Therapeutic Community providing a proven, long-term, holistic approach to treating addiction and mental health concurrent disorders - encompassing one's physical, mental, spiritual, social, emotional and educational needs - with highly structured and supportive community.
Established in 1985, Caritas School of Life is Canada's second oldest Therapeutic Community which today includes the only 24- month Ment's Bed-Based Program in North America, and an In-Patient Men's Detox Centre. It also operates three outpatient programs, addiction services for Women, and Men and Women's withdrawal management; as well as a Family Support Group.
Position Summary:
The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, oversight, and governance to
the Caritas School of Life. We are currently seeking a dedicated board
member with a background in
Finance
to strengthen our team and
support Caritas mission and vision. Board members collaborate to ensure effective
operations, sustainable growth, and impactful advocacy. Ideal candidates will be
committed to Caritas vision, bring diverse perspectives, and offer expertise in Finance
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic oversight, guidance, and governance for Caritas School of Life activities and initiatives
Collaborate with fellow board members and the Executive Director to drive Caritas vision, mission and long-term objectives
Participate actively in board meetings, discussion and sub-committees as needed.
Leverage professional expertise and networks to support the organizational growth, fundraising and advocacy.
Ensure financial accountability, risk management and compliance with policies and legal requirements
Supports Caritas initiative in community outreach, partnership building and public awareness.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in board governance, non-profit leadership, or executive
management is highly desirable
Expertise in the area of accounting and finance is a requirement.
Commitment and Term:
Attendance is monthly (virtual and in-person)
Participation in sub-committee meetings and occasional events as needed
Minimum term: 3 years, with the option for renewal
