The Bredin Centre for Career Advancement provides responsive services that empower and connect people, allowing them to contribute fully to our community, through pathways to education and employment. Founded in 1976, Bredin continues to grow and adapt to the needs of all Albertans. We are invested in our community and have a team of over 100 professionals supporting over 4,000 clients a year across a wide range of programs.
Bredin is governed by a Board of highly motivated individuals who share their diverse skillset and business experience to support our commitment to Albertans. Our goal is to help people build a better future by providing innovative programming, skilled staff and an inclusive environment. As members of the Bredin Board, Directors act in a position of trust for the community and are responsible for the effective governance of the Centre. The Board guides the future of the Centre by developing policy and strategic direction together with Bredin's Executive Director.

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking individuals who bring energy, curiosity, and diverse perspectives, particularly in the following areas:
Finance and accounting
Information technology
Policy, governance and strategic thinking
Legal
Previous Board experience is an asset but, governance training and mentorship opportunities are available.

Commitment
Board Directors must be able to contribute 2-4 weekday hours per month, generally during extended lunchtime or late-afternoon weekday meetings, and to:
Participate actively in Board and committee meetings
Serve on Board committees (including Governance & HR, Finance & Audit, or Board Development)
Attend the Annual General Meeting and occasional special events
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Commit to a 3-year term, up to a maximum of six years.
