This position will begin as a casual role, with the potential to transition into full-time employment.* This is not a small option home position. You will be supporting residents in their own homes or apartments, assisting them with daily living needs while promoting independence.*
JOB OVERVIEW

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The effective Vocational Rehabilitation Worker is responsible for performing the following duties:
Rights, Empowerment & Personal Growth
Respect and protect the rights of the individuals we support, including their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination.
Support each person's right to choose and practice their own values, beliefs, religion, and culture.
Promote and encourage optimal levels of health, well-being, and self-esteem.
Foster personal growth, self-worth, and a strong sense of belonging.
Create opportunities for individuals to learn socially acceptable behaviors and manners in a supportive environment.
Daily Living & Personal Support
Provide assistance in areas such as menu planning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, cleaning, personal hygiene, and other daily living activities.
Support participation in community involvement and leisure/recreational activities.
Safely transport and/or accompany individuals to appointments and events, offering assistance and advocacy as needed.
Assist with managing personal finances when necessary, ensuring funds are used responsibly and essential needs are met.
Health & Medication Oversight
Monitor medication and medical supplies, report any missing medications or errors, and re-order supplies as required.
Professional Conduct & Team Collaboration
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
Follow assigned schedules for home visits and individual care.
Accurately complete all documentation, including charting and reports, as directed by the management team.
Attend team meetings and in-service training sessions as scheduled.
Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, coworkers, neighbors, advocates, and professionals such as DCS/DSP staff.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma
Successful completion of post secondary education in the field will be considered an asset.
First Aid & CPR
Food Handlers course
Low Arousal Training/NVCI
This position requires a Valid Driver's License, you must utilize your own vehicle and have proof of insurance

SKILLS:
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to implement and monitor client based support plans
Flexibility in adapting to changing needs and goals of clients
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS:
Pets, houseplants, cleaning agents, and cigarette smoke may be present in the community work environment
Staff primarily work alone with clients in the community
Travel is regularly involved
Clients may, from time to time, exhibit behavioural excesses.
