Haois Singing & Music Theatre School is a performing arts school serving aspiring performers in the GTA. Our team of arts educators guides performers of all ages through engaging programs built on performing arts fundamentals (singing, acting, and dancing) to help them build skills, including confidence, collaboration, public speaking, and much more.

About the Job
Are you passionate about music and love working with children? Haois Singing and Musical Theatre School is seeking a dynamic and engaging vocal teacher to join our team! We're looking for someone to inspire and nurture the next generation of performers by teaching group musical theatre classes for ages 4-5, 6-8, and 9-16. There are also opportunities to work with advanced high school and adult students.
In this position, you will be responsible for co-teaching group classes alongside a dance teacher. Your primary focus will be on the musical and vocal development of our students, but can also include dramatic elements such as blocking and expression. There may also be the opportunity to teach students privately, in preparation for professional auditions and competitions. You may also be asked to sub in for some of our other vocal teachers, either in a private or group class setting. There are also opportunities to develop and deliver your own workshops at our studio.
Alongside teaching, we offer ongoing mentorship, and professional development sessions.

Our studio is located by Woodbine Ave. and Dension St.
Hours:
Classes take place throughout the week. Monday - Friday, we offer evening classes. On Saturday and Sunday, classes will run morning until evening.
Compensation:
$30-40/hr, depending on experience.
Transportation:
Access to a vehicle is an asset but not required. The studio is accessible by TTC.
Co-Teaching Environment:
Group classes are co-led with a movement/dance teacher.
Term Length:
Classes run during the school year, September - December, and January - June. The fall semester will conclude with a showcase, while the spring semester culminates with our yearly musical production. There will be an opportunity for summer teaching at our camps and trial classes.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead vocal warm-ups and teach songs to children in a fun and engaging way, as well as assist the movement/dance teacher with their warm-up and materials.
Participate in training sessions and shadow-teach alongside experienced instructors to familiarize yourself with our teaching style and curriculum.
Work alongside our Lead Teacher to create a term lesson plan.
Guide students in singing and basic harmonies.
Guide students in clear and correct pronunciation of lyrics and lines.
Collaborate with a co-teacher to provide a well-rounded musical theatre experience.
Inspire and motivate students to develop their confidence and vocal skills.
Support end-of-term showcases to highlight student performances.
Support events like music festivals, community performances, and other special projects.
Potential for private vocal lessons based on student demand.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Music or a related field or equivalent hands-on/professional experience.
Experience teaching children and/or group classes.
Experience in vocal music pedagogy.
Ability to read sheet music and teach simple harmonies on the piano.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work long hours (with breaks).
Strong collaboration and team player skills.
Experience with sound design, lighting and stage managing are extremely valuable assets.
Passion for musical theatre and working with young performers.
Social Media and Marketing skills are considered an asset.
CPR/First Aid and Vulnerable Sector Check are considered an asset.
