The Visual Communications Manager - Corporate is an inspired visual problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced corporate environment. The incumbent will manage tight production deadlines while working across all media including digital and print. The successful incumbent is a creative thinker with exceptional organizational skills, who pays attention to detail and is an extremely effective communicator. The incumbent is a proactive individual, with well-developed critical thinking skills who can process, react to, and solve problems quickly.

This role requires a mature and diplomatic person who can work comfortably in a team environment and directly with senior management and executives. The incumbent will continue to learn as technologies develop and can confidently guide clients as well as writers, photographers, and illustrators to meet production goals. The incumbent will guide Air Canada's publishing platform strategies for both external publications such as our Annual General Reports and Corporate Social Responsibility Reports and internal publications for employees as technologies continue to evolve.

The incumbent may also replace the Senior Manager, Visual Communications Corporate when that individual is sick or on vacation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and analyze customer requests to determine best vehicles
  • Work from often-complicated messaging to conceptualize and execute creative solutions for multiple visual platforms
  • Design visual communication pieces and strategies including overall theme development, individual piece designs, etc.
  • Submit strategies and creative deliverables within the agreed upon deadline and budget
  • Manage production of all print pieces from conception to completion
  • Work efficiently with vendors on the development of needed client materials
  • Perform pre and post production quality checks
  • Partner in the planning and creative process of new client acquisition
  • Creatively seek out new products and maintain cutting edge industry knowledge
  • Lead and attend design meetings as assigned
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager Visual Communications to create accurate price estimates and breakdowns while delivering solutions within budget
Qualifications
  • Four-year related degree and a minimum of 5 years design experience in an in-house creative department or design firm.
  • Strong creative, organizational, problem solving and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Expert understanding of all graphic production processes.
  • Adaptable and quick learner. Must be able to apply branding style guides creatively while upholding brand identity for Air Canada.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with HTML, Wordpress, and motion graphics a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout and typography
