Tourism Kamloops is looking for a Visitor Experience Specialist to help shape how visitors - and locals - connect with our vibrant region. In this hands-on, community-focused role, you'll lead the charge on visitor servicing, support our Visitor Ambassadors, keep our digital tools running smoothly, and ensure partners across the region are equipped to welcome guests. The Role
Coordinate all operations for the Roam Street Team and visitor engagement, including hiring, training, scheduling, and support
Respond to community and visitor inquiries via phone and email in a timely manner
Organize three seasonal familiarization tours for the tourism industry annually
Support maintenance of the Tourism Kamloops-branded vehicle(s).
Maintain and enhance the Tourism Kamloops Volunteer Visitor Ambassador program, with potential to develop and expand the program
Ensure local tourism partners are stocked with current Tourism Kamloops materials
Update CRM accounts and listings as needed
Prepare and submit reports required for visitor servicing
Curate weekly and monthly e-newsletters
Support content, including writing for social media, email newsletters, website, blog, and other marketing materials, as requested
Support grant funding applications such as the Canada Summer Jobs grant
Maintain the Tourism Kamloops ChatBot
Maintain the Learn the 'Loops online training course, adding updates as required
Manage the Tourism Kamloops online store, including product purchasing, inventory management, shop promotions, and order delivery
Support research and data analysis, and prepare reporting
Support travel deals programming
Support destination stewardship programs such as Biosphere.
All other duties as required.
What you bring
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
A university degree in business, tourism, communications, or related field
A minimum of three years of recent, related experience
Experience in leading teams of 5+ staff or volunteers
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle required
Intangibles
Strategic thinking, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experience managing staff and/or volunteer groups
Strong interpersonal and management experience
Organized, methodical, and motivated with a customer-first approach
Ability to multitask and meet challenging deadlines
Working knowledge of Office365, Google Drive, and Shopify; knowledge of SimpleView CRM, ProcessWire, and MailChimp considered an asset
Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
Vast knowledge of the Kamloops and surrounding region
