Manitoba Parks is seeking a highly engaged and creative individual to fill the role of Visitor Experience and Interpretive Specialist.
This Manitoba Parks Interpretation Unit delivers educational activities, guided programs and interpretive products to connect visitors to the sites, stories and landscapes in provincial parks. Park Interpreters provide these positive visitor experiences to inspire stewardship of park resources. We believe that through learning and discovering comes understanding, appreciation and protection of our parks, so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.
The Visitor Experience and Interpretive Specialist provides a key resource role for supporting Park Interpreters and developing interpretive products for provincial parks.

Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence
Must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends
Must be willing and able to travel with occasional overnight accommodations
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including working in various of outdoor conditions, hiking trails and moving and lifting items
Qualifications:
Essential:
Post-secondary education in a related field such as Indigenous studies, recreation/tourism, Biological or Natural Sciences, History/Geography, Education or Natural Resource Management or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered
Experience developing and delivering interpretive programs at a natural, cultural or historical site, such as a park or museum
Proven experience in organizing tasks and managing time effectively with strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with visitors of all ages
Effective written communication skills with experience developing interpretive media such as signs, exhibits, publications or digital content
Strong verbal communication skills with experience conducting public presentations
Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of the natural, cultural, and historical resources in Manitoba's provincial parks.
Knowledge of rules and regulations for visitors in Manitoba's provincial parks
Desired:
Experience managing volunteer programs
Experience curating social media content
Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English and French
Duties:
Duties include community outreach and marketing initiatives, participates in the development of interpretive media such as signs, publications and digital content for the Manitoba Parks website and social media channels. The incumbent will also be responsible for administering volunteer programs, managing collections and exhibits at park visitor centres, and providing resource support to Park Interpreters.
Work schedule is typically Monday to Friday, with some weekends and travel required to deliver outreach programs and provide as-required support to Park Interpreters.
