Located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), we provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care tailored to historically underserved and marginalized populations.
We are seeking a licensed physician to join our multidisciplinary team in a virtual capacity, conducting initial assessments and 1:1 sessions for clients entering our residential program.
Position Overview
Role:
Virtual Physician -- Intake & Ongoing 1:1 Care (co-facilitated)
Type:
Part-time / Contract / Flexible
Work Setting:
100% Virtual (supporting clients admitted to our GTA residential program)
Key Responsibilities
Conduct virtual 1:1 initial assessments for new admissions to determine clinical suitability for treatment
Provide medical clearance for residential admission
Identify contraindications, risks, or special care needs prior to entry
Prepare and submit concise assessment summaries in our secure EMR system
Provide in-house referrals to our consulting psychiatrist or other allied clinicians as needed
Co-facilitate 1:1 virtual sessions directly with clients as part of their treatment plan, in collaboration with registered social workers and other staff. (Involvement of MD could be minimal)
Engage in brief case discussions with the admissions and clinical team as required
Qualifications
Licensed MD in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
Eligible to bill OHIP, independently or under a group billing structure
Familiarity with K-codes and OHIP-funded mental health billing processes
Experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or family medicine (preferred, not required)
Competence in virtual care delivery and secure electronic documentation
Commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, client-centered care
Scheduling & Flexibility
Fully virtual -- work from anywhere within Ontario
Flexible scheduling (days, evenings, or weekends)
Initial assessments: 20-40 minutes per client
1:1 follow-up sessions: scheduled as appropriate
Compensation
Initial assessments: $300/hour (flat rate)
Ongoing 1:1 sessions: 80/20 revenue split (physician receives 20% of OHIP-billable services). Sessions are delivered by our staff under the physician's clinical oversight and review.
Billing & Collaboration Framework
Physicians enter a collaborative billing agreement with New Beginnings Recovery Home
Group billing registration with OHIP is required to process claims
Revenue-sharing applies to OHIP-billed services for 1:1 sessions and co-facilitated group participation
Physicians gain access to:
