Job Description

The Violence Prevention and SARA (Sexual Assault Response and Advocacy) Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the organization's mission to prevent sexual and gender-based violence and support survivors through education, outreach and advocacy. This maternity leave coverage position is responsible for leading educational initiatives, coordinating response efforts, coordinating the SARA program, delivering presentations, supporting volunteers, and maintaining a strong presence in schools, universities, and community organizations. They foster a culture of consent and safety across the community. They chair the local Violence Prevention Committee and the Sexual Assault Response Team and play a key role in organizing awareness campaigns such as Sexual Violence Prevention Week and Violence Prevention Month.

Key Responsibilities:



Education & Prevention



Develop and deliver engaging workshops and training sessions including but not limited to the following topics: Consent education Bystander intervention Healthy relationships and boundaries Collaborate with community partners, schools, and service providers to promote violence prevention initiatives. Deliver in-person and online SARA presentations, including info booths, service partner presentations, and volunteer booths. Create and distribute educational materials and campaign content for awareness events (e.g., Sexual Violence Awareness Week).

SARA Coordination & Survivor and Volunteer Support



Recruit and support SARA volunteers. Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure coverage for 24-hour support services. Provide guidance, debriefing, and emotional support to volunteers. Maintain all social media and traditional media presence for the SARA program. Ensure program visibility and engagement through consistent outreach and communication. Serve as a point of contact for survivors, offering trauma-informed support and referrals to appropriate services. Participate in the SARA on-call rotation, providing crisis response and advocacy as needed. Maintain confidentiality and uphold survivor-centered practices in all interactions. Liaise with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other agencies to ensure coordinated care. Assist in the development of new curriculum and content for SARA programming.

Program Development & Evaluation



Monitor and assess the effectiveness of prevention programs and outreach efforts. Collect and analyze data to inform program improvements and reporting. Assist with grant reporting and documentation related to violence prevention and SARA activities.

Community Engagement & Advocacy



Build relationships with local organizations, coalitions, and stakeholders to strengthen community response to sexual violence. Advocate for inclusive, equitable policies and practices that support survivors and promote safety. Chair and coordinate the local Violence Prevention Committee and the Sexual Assault Response Team. Organize and lead planning for Sexual Violence Prevention Week, Violence Prevention Month, Consent Awareness Week and the 16 Days of Activism. Represent the organization in collaborative efforts with service providers and advocacy groups.

Qualifications:



Degree or diploma in social work, public health, gender studies, psychology, or a related field. Experience in sexual violence prevention, education, or crisis response. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and intersectional approaches. Excellent facilitation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with MS365, Office, Excel, Teams and Canva. Valid driver's license or access to a reliable vehicle is required. Availability for SARA on-call rotation is required.

Pay: $43,903.02-$48,500.00 per year
