About the Role:

Global Lethbridge is looking for a full-time Videographer to join their team. Reporting to the Newsroom Manager, the successful candidate would be responsible for reporting, shooting, and editing ENG material, and producing local and network online content. This role requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This is a Group A position under the current collective agreement.

  • General assignment reporting for Global Lethbridge.
  • Pitching and executing compelling local content for all platforms including television, radio and online.
  • Shooting, writing, and editing all stories filed daily.
  • Writing news copy for on-air and online, including intros, questions, story leads and bumpers.
  • Initiating and monitoring story development, contacts and maintaining quality of production.
  • Monitoring all news sources, including feeds, wires, and social media.
  • Chasing breaking news stories \xe2\x80\x93 including coordination of interviews and facilitating pictures and video for online coverage.
  • Communicating breaking or changing news situations with online and show producer.
  • Meeting multiple deadlines to provide video, stills, stories, streaming video and other content for tv, online, and social media.
  • Participating in meetings to identify and plan future online and broadcast events.
  • Displaying creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elements.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
  • Post-secondary education in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Video Journalist or related role preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of camera work and how to shoot a story for a newscast.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to write accurate, concise, creative copy for broadcast and online.
  • Familiarity with non-linear editing.
  • Excelling communicator with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop sources, contacts and research original content.
  • Willingness and ability to use digital technology and social media to generate content and develop audience interaction.
  • Familiar with current state of online news reporting and publishing.
  • Familiarity and ease in using Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media.
  • Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work independently, effectively, and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean driving record.
