Your role

We are looking for a Videographer to join the Radio-Canada Manitoba team based in our Winnipeg station. In this role, you will perform tasks as a specialist in production, contributing creatively to programming by frequently composing distinctive visuals within the scope and time constraints of the program. You will be assigned primarily to the arts show Connexion, broadcast across Western Canada and onICI TOU.TV.

Work is generally performed according to accepted CBC/Radio-Canada or industry standards, but there is latitude for independent action, judgment and initiative. Duties are performed under the direction of program or other personnel, but there may be requirements to work without immediate supervision. Work is usually performed within established program formats and under high pressure.

Key tasks:Prepare, align and set up field cameras, ensuring optimum visual and technical quality under prevailing conditions. Light the subject or scene; compose and record program material using a handheld camera. Ensure both visual and aural material meets technical and esthetic requirements for editing. Shoot interviews, profiles, performances and visuals in the field or during cultural events. Record intros/continuity on the set for programs. Prepare shot lists in the field. Maintain shooting and editing equipment in good working order, making adjustments as needed. Retrieve video footage from various sources and save it to a drive in the appropriate place. Take photos and shoot video needed to produce content for Instagram, the web and TV. Produce vertical videos (shooting and editing). Produce standalone video content. Attend production meetings. Participate in brainstorming sessions for special projects. Find archival material to meet production needs. Digitize video material or transfer various media content (photos, YouTube videos, music downloads, Instagram posts, etc.) to the team drive. Deliver all recorded materials and perform editing.

What you bring

Objective criteria:Technical knowledge and understanding of daily television and digital program production methods. Understanding of picture composition and single-camera lighting. Knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in television arts, or equivalent industry experience. Six months to one year of specialized experience in the news field or remote broadcasting. Advanced ability to edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems, primarily Adobe Premiere Pro but also other tools such as Avid Media Composer, Avid NewsCutter, Apple iMovie, Final Cut Pro and vMix, an asset. Excellent command of French (French-speaking work environment). Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English (BBB). Valid driver's licence. Ability to work various shift patterns, including overnights and weekends, often in unexpected overtime situations.
