(Contract Position)



MHI is seeking to fill a one-year term independent contractor position to provide video content creation services for several software products.

The Power Systems Technology Centre (PTC) is a business unit of MHI and is a world leader in electrical power simulation, applied power systems analysis, and related technologies. PTC develops and markets a variety of products including PSCAD(TM)/EMTDC(TM), a renowned power system simulation software. Additional innovative technologies to improve transmission system efficiency are offered by PTC.

PTC offers clients an experienced team of engineer professionals that have a wide range of experience providing solutions to the global power industry. PTC has leading experts in the field of HVDC who provide unique expertise in engineering studies, equipment specifications, and maintenance and system operation.

Your Role:



Reporting to the Manager, Project Sales & Administration, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing engaging video content that highlights the features and functionality of our software products. These videos will serve as walkthroughs and instructional tools for technical audiences. MHI subject matter experts will be available to provide input and guidance on the software's capabilities. The selected vendor may also be asked to produce additional video content as needed to support future initiatives.

This project involves multiple components to enhance user support and product communications through video content, such as:

Software Walkthrough Videos

: Create engaging instructional videos that highlight the features and functionality of MHI's software products with a strong focus on PSCAD(TM) and may including the MyCentre User Portal. These videos will serve as instructional tools for our clients.

AI Voiceover Integration

: Incorporate AI-generated voiceovers into video content, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and alignment with MHI's tone and branding.

Template-Based Production

: Work with templates and visual assets provided by MHI's design team to ensure consistency across all video materials.

Marketing and Promotional Clips

: Develop short-form videos to support product launches, events, and promotional campaigns.

Website and Social Media Content

: Produce video content for use on YouTube, www.pscad.com, and other social platforms to enhance MHI's digital presence and outreach.

Editable Video Assets

: Ability to create video content in formats that allow for future editing and updates (e.g., modular structure, separate audio layers, editable project files), reducing the need for full re-production. Only when needed.

Future Video Needs

: Support additional video content creation as required for other products, services, or internal initiatives.

MHI will supply all necessary logos and branding guidelines.

Deliverables:



Introductory Meeting



Meet with MHI stakeholders to align project goals, review guidelines, and discuss the priority list of video content. This meeting will also serve as an opportunity to introduce key team members who will collaborate with the vendor throughout the project.

Review & Planning



Assess the current library of video content. Review MHI's prioritized list of videos and identify any gaps in coverage. Recommend potential solutions or new video concepts to address missing content and support future needs.

Content Strategy Document



A summary of the overall approach to video content - audience, tone, format preferences, distribution channels, and accessibility considerations. This includes recommendations for captions, transcripts, audio descriptions, and metadata standards such as naming conventions, tagging, and categorization. This helps guide future content creation and ensures consistency.

Script/Outline Development



Collaborate with MHI subject matter experts to develop scripts or outlines for each video, ensuring technical accuracy and clarity.

Production & Editing



Create video content using screen recordings, animations, live footage (sometimes), and AI-generated voiceovers. Incorporate branding elements and templates provided by MHI.

Delivery of Editable Assets



Provide final videos in both ready-to-use formats (e.g., MP4) and editable formats (e.g., project files with separate audio layers, modular components) to allow for future updates without full re-production.

Review & Revisions



Participate in feedback cycles with MHI stakeholders and make necessary revisions to ensure quality and alignment with expectations.

Future Work Opportunities



In addition to the initial deliverables, MHI may request support for additional video content creation as needs evolve. This could include new software walkthroughs, training materials, promotional clips, or other multimedia assets. The ability to accommodate future work and scale support will be considered an asset.

About You:



The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:

Post-secondary education in video production, media, or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in content creation and media production or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Producing tutorial-style videos that highlight the features and functionality.

Collaborating with stakeholders to understand technical content and ensure accuracy.

Developing scripts or outlines for instructional videos.

Capturing and editing screen recordings, voiceovers, and animations as needed.

Delivering final videos in formats suitable for web, presentations, and training materials.

Supporting future video content needs for other products, services, or marketing initiatives.

Technical Skills in screen capture, editing, motion graphics / basic animation, audio recording and clean-up, and lighting fundamentals.
