The opportunity:





Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Operations (SVP), the Vice-President, Operations (VP) is accountable for providing leadership and direction within Wellington-Altus Private Wealth and Wellington-Altus Private Counsel Operations Department.



The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations and participate in the strategic direction for our Wellington-Altus Private Counsel (WAPC) & Wellington-Altus USA (WAUSA) businesses, our Central Trading Group, and the Business Systems and Reconciliation team for our CIRO dealer. The VP will also work closely with our vendors and custodians to ensure the needs of Operations are met as we expand and grow our platforms and business, and will build efficient, effective processes and services to meet current & future demand.



Additionally, working closely with the Associate Vice-President, Central Trade Group (AVP), the VP will ensure we have the structure and knowledge to support the continued expansion of our product offering for Separately Managed Accounts (SMA's)/Unified Managed Accounts (UMA's) and our discretionary advisors, ensuring we have the structure and knowledge to support this growth and a technology solution in EnvestNet that meets the needs of our business.


Key responsibilities include:




Relationship Management + Overseeing and managing our custodian relationships for WAPC/WAUSA, establishing and maintaining proper vendor governance.
+ Working with your AVP, WAPC Operations to manage the relationships with our custodians by monitoring their service delivery to WAPC/WAUSA, addressing and resolving areas of concern.
+ Implementing a proper governance structure for our custodians to meet agreed to Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Service Level Agreements (SLA's).
+ Working closely with Head of WAPC to ensure the team, and the platform, can meet the anticipated growth of our business.
Portfolio Trading + Overseeing a team of analysts and administrators responsible for managing our SMA platform, ensuring proper processes and controls in place to deliver a superior service offering to our clients.
+ Working with the program owner and WAPC Chief Investment Officer, as well as your AVP, Central Trade Group, to ensure our trading platform, EnvestNet, can meet the needs of the Central Overlay Group for our SMA & UMA implementation and future managed solution launches.
People Management + Managing a diverse team of AVP's, analysts and administrators to deliver a superior service and product offering.
Strategic + Participating in, and in many cases leading, various corporate initiatives as they relate to WAPC/WAUSA, Central Overlay and operations, ensuring the needs/goals of teams are addressed.
+ Working with Head of WAPC to ensure we have a platform for WAPC/WAUSA that is best in class for our Portfolio Managers and can take the business to the next level.
+ Working with SVP, Operations to ensure we have an operational team and platforms that can support all business lines as we continue to build our assets.

The ideal candidate will possess:




A degree or diploma in Business, or related field required. 8+ years' financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment. 5+ years financial service Operational experience. Experience in wealth management; either within a CIRO and/or ICPM regulated environment. Completion of CSC, or other industry related courses. Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook. Experience with Wealth Management/ Portfolio Management platforms such as EnvestNet, Croesus, NDEX, D1G1T. Experience managing custodians, with an ability to foster a strong relationship to ensure Wellington-Altus receives a high level of service while at the same time holding them accountable for delivering to SLA's. Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing superior service to our Portfolio Managers and Advisors. Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually). Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills. A high tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities. An ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.

Conditions of employment:




Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Ability to travel anywhere within Canada, up to 0-5% of the time, dependent on initiatives. A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant prior to commencing employment.
