The role of Vice President Sustainable Performance is to establish and direct the overall performance objectives of the department, and development initiatives. The VP serves as a company expert in the discipline, communicating effectively and working collaboratively with customers and colleagues, making technical decisions and recommendations recognized as authoritative. Responsible to ensure standard work methods and tools are followed and oversee overall discipline capacity.

Acting as a recognized subject matter expert within the company, the Vice-President ensures technical consistency, promotes best practices, and supports continuous professional growth across teams. This role requires strategic leadership, strong technical expertise, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with both clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership and technical governance

Define and drive the national vision for sustainable development, in alignment with the company's overall mission. Define and maintain the company's technical standards for the discipline and ensure their consistent application across all offices. Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standard methods, design guidelines, procedures, and tools. Ensure quality, consistency, and technical alignment of deliverables across teams and geographies. Provide clear communication and guidance to staff on updated standards and best practices. Monitor performance on projects and intervene as needed to ensure technical excellence and client satisfaction. Identify, leverage and put in place innovation opportunities; Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, or outsourcing of low-value-added tasks. Works in collaboration with Managing Directors and technical director to ensure an optimal distribution of the resources versus workload across BPA and to ensure that specific technical expertise is leverage when appropriate.

Team leadership

Support and coach discipline leads and senior experts in their technical development and leadership growth. Establish and lead a community of practice to highlight sustainability innovation initiatives to enhance effectiveness. Identify training needs and promote the development of new skills to meet evolving market and client demands.

Business development

Contribute to the growth and strategic positioning of the company by identifying project opportunities, partnerships, and new market segments relevant to the core disciplines. Ensure the development of energy modelling services, environmental certifications, renewable energies (solar, geothermal, biomass), and commissioning at the national level. Represent the company's technical leadership at industry events, conferences, and professional networks.

Desired profile

Proven experience (10 years +) in the field of sustainable development, engineering, environment or consulting services. Mobilizing leadership, with a proven ability to turn vision into concrete action through a multi-site structure. In-depth knowledge of environmental standards and certifications (LEED, WELL, Net Zero, BOMA BEST, etc.). Bilingualism French-English is mandatory. Availability for frequent travel to Montreal and Toronto, as well as to other offices as required. Solid understanding of environmental issues and ability to translate them into business strategies.
