THE ROLE
We are seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial person, with an accomplished and proven track record of impactful business relationships and the vision to drive organizational structure and growth. This newly defined position goes beyond a mandate of departmental management; it is a pivotal appointment within the business that will work hand-in-hand with Ownership, to shape and sustain the trajectory of their high-growth ambition.
The Vice President of Sales will be instrumental in supporting and driving a high-performing sales and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence across the business. Their vision will define the expectation and development of cross-departmental strategies, and the establishment of effective processes and procedures to support those goals, ultimately enhancing the overall positioning of the company for continued success in the market.
Their ability to inspire and motivate others across the business, combined with clear, strategic insight and strong business acumen, will be fundamental to driving the long-term success of the firm.
THE LEADER
To effectively serve as a collaborative partner to Ownership, the Vice President of Sales must have demonstrated experience and relationships within the industry, a 'roll up your sleeves' attitude and collaborative partner. The incumbent must embody strong leadership qualities while also being a hands-on, team player who can inspire and align others in lock-step with the vision of the business. The VP of Sales must demonstrate maturity, resilience, and stamina, navigating change without causing unnecessary disruption to the team. Collaborative in nature, they will champion the brand both internally and externally, fostering a positive and inclusive environment within a high-growth, diverse team.
In addition to being comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, the VP of Sales should be resourceful, open-minded, and persistent, driving innovation and adaptation as the company evolves and advances. They must understand that the underwriting team works hand-on-hand with you generating success as a team.
From a cooperative and strategic perspective, Sales, Underwriting, and Marketing are inseparably linked. Ideally, the Vice President of Sales will possess the expertise and versatile skill set required to establish collaborative business objectives and strategies for each of these departments to operate in unison.
The Vice President of Sales must possess developed financial acumen including navigating P&Ls. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft, Pipedrive, and analytical skills are essential, allowing them to effectively plan and execute strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction and brand integrity.
THE SCOPE
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

  • Leverage existing contacts to identify and develop new client and investor relationships with a strong focus on sourcing qualified prospects that lead to loan requests or syndicated investing.
  • Meet frequently with clients and developers to ensure comprehensive, holistic commercial real estate financial solutions and applying advanced sales strategies to negotiate and close deals, ensuring a high conversion rate from lead generation to finalized transactions.
  • Develop client acquisition strategies, maintain a prospect sales pipeline, and manage a book of business to drive sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, leveraging market presence to gather key intelligence and promote the company's value proposition.
  • Prepare sales calls, presentations, and pitches for various potential developers
  • Attend and research sales events to assist in capital inflow, onboarding investors, and meeting sales targets approved by senior management.
  • Generate leads through various channels, for Syndicated investments including high net worth individuals (75%), and family offices, ensuring connections with the right prospects who are positioned to close.
  • Work closely with Asst. VP Business development - (Dealing Representative) to qualify syndicated investors
Loan Origination & Financial Analysis
  • Originate commercial real estate loans across Ontario, focusing on first and second mortgage loans in land, land development, construction, bridge, and subordinate debt financing.
  • Review and analyze construction budgets, financial statements, cash flow, and working capital for new loan prospects, developing suggestions and alternatives that meet or exceed client objectives.
  • Conduct due diligence to ensure prospective investments meet underwriting criteria and approved mandates.
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate terms with prospects, and oversee negotiations with external lenders relative to the sale of real estate products and services.
  • Ensure adherence to credit granting policies regarding the quality, verification of information, analysis, profitability, and credit recommendations.
  • Prepare investment memorandums for internal approvals, which summarizes due diligence and analytical findings in support of investment recommendations.
Portfolio & Transaction Management
  • Participate in the management and administration of the private debt portfolio, as well as other alternative assets.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and activity, providing robust communication on asset class value and opportunities.
  • Manage amendment and workout situations to mitigate risk and preserve portfolio profitability.
  • Review legal documentation, negotiate deal terms, and coordinate legal and financial closing of transactions.
  • Develop and maintain industry contacts for ongoing access and visibility in the private debt market.
THE CANDIDATE Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate loan origination and deep relationships with high net worth individuals and families.
  • Able to think, advise, and act/react strategically. Capable of developing and executing business strategies aligned with the company's goals and market trends.
  • Customer/Client focus. A customer-centric approach is key. The VP of Sales should prioritize customer satisfaction and retention, ensuring that sales efforts are aligned with delivering value to customers.
  • Should be a team player and able to manage team of underwriters and working closely with the marketing heads of the company.
  • Developed financial acumen including navigating P&Ls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, Pipedrive and analytical skills to effectively plan and execute strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability.
  • Experience in commercial mortgages, underwriting, KYC, KYP
  • University degree
  • Either MBA or CFA is an asset
  • Mortgage Brokerage license
  • Dealing Representative, preferred
  • GTA Based. Presence in Headquarters is required.
