The Global Legal Organization is recruiting for a Vice President Law to support J&J Med Tech Canada, our medical device businesses located in Markham, Ontario. This Vice President will sit on the management board of J&J Med Tech (Canada) (including Biosense Webster, CSS, DePuy Synthes, Ethicon, J&J Vision and Surgical Vision) , advise senior management on general legal matters, oversee our J&J Med Tech Canada legal team and be primarily responsible for Global Legal Organization alignment with this business. This position is located at company headquarters in Ontario, Canada. This is a Senior Director level role and reports into a Vice President.

Role Summary:

This attorney will be responsible for providing the management board and other cross-functional business partners with strategic legal advice and counsel in all areas of law, so as to further the interests of the business, while protecting the company\'s rights, interests and reputation.

As a member of the J&J Med Tech Canada management board, main responsibilities would include coordinating legal matters for the business; partnering with business clients, colleagues in the Johnson & Johnson Global Legal Organization globally and with outside counsel, all to support business opportunities while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, industry guidelines and internal policies. The Vice President Law will provide strategic proactive and reactive legal advice on a wide range of proposed business initiatives and issues, including in the areas of sales and marketing, regulatory and medical affairs, clinical trials, quality, access and reimbursement, health care compliance, privacy and employment.

Additionally, the position involves close interactions with colleagues in the Johnson & Johnson Global Legal Organization\'s litigation, regulatory and patent groups who are engaged in patent and product liability litigation as well as in prosecuting and managing J&J Med Tech\'s patent estate.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for preparing and negotiating complex commercial agreements across the functional areas listed above, including services, access, partnership and distribution agreements.

The Vice President Law will be responsible for managing certain outside counsel relationships and the departmental budget. The Vice President Law would also lead and serve on project teams and committees to assess and implement special/significant projects in the local business and/or J&J Global Legal Organization.

This position leads the local legal team of three individuals and are accountable for the team\'s support of the local business and alignment with the J&J Global Legal Organization. Direct reports include one lawyer and an administrative professional.Member of a Provincial Bar of Law Society in Canada

10 years\' experience in private practice and/or in-house

Experience as a board or business attorney for a commercial operating company or comparable business/legal experience.

Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare market is preferred, including, legal, compliance and regulatory issues. Understanding of the Canadian regulatory framework is an asset.

Proven ability to provide outstanding legal services to, and interact with, a range of senior executives.

Proven legal and business judgment with an orientation to finding solutions; excellent strategic and analytical skills.

Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, and an excellent track record of collaboration with colleagues.

Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, meet stringent timelines and handle multiple demands simultaneously.

Proficiency in French is an asset.
