What responsibilities will you have in this role?

Reporting to the Senior VP of People Enablement and Experience, Vice President, Information Technology and Digital Innovation is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction on information technology for George Brown College. The VP, Information Technology and Digital Innovation will have solid understanding of the long- and short-term business objectives of the college, as well as planning and execution of technology elements required to achieve those business outcomes.

The core ITS activities include College-wide technology infrastructure, data center operations, systems and database services, communications and networking, cyber security, desktop support, client services, iTAC, training and helpdesk support.

\xc2\xb7 Strategic Leadership for the Department and the College Overall with regards to Information Technology

o Provides strategic direction and planning for all college-wide IT decisions and direction.

o Drives data-driven decision making by maintaining life cycles for business process changes that enable the college to address short- and long-term gaps.

o Maintains a solid understanding of the market trends and competitor knowledge, along with available technology opportunities to build the technology road map to college\'s Strategy 2026, and Vision 2030.

o Approves, prioritizes, and controls projects as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of information systems and capital infrastructure.

o Provides advice, counseling, and information to senior leadership and college community and management on IT and infrastructure related risks and issues.

\xc2\xb7 Supporting day-to-day business operations across the college by ensuring reliable technology infrastructure and support

o Ensures that ITS provides technology and services for user support (employees and students), reliable system architecture and governance (PIPPA requirements).

o Ensures services are scalable and can be delivered across multiple campuses, divisions, users, and mediums of access.

o Ensures continuous delivery of technical services through oversight of service level agreements with end users, and monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance.

o Defines and reports on appropriate technology services operation metrics.

o Establishes lines of control for current and proposed IT systems.

\xc2\xb7 Risk Management and Cyber Security

o Manages risk by ensuring information assets and the reputation of the college are protected against cyber incidents and cyber related vulnerabilities.

o Develops a comprehensive risk management framework for the delivery of all technology and services.

o Maintains a solid understanding of the different IT related threats in the post-secondary education sector and landscape and creates risk management road map and assigns resources.

\xc2\xb7 Oversight of IT resources across the college, including budgetary requirements for the division

o Responsible for responsible for management of departmental budgets and divisional budgets related to technology.

o Management of external contracts, contractor budgets, vendor acquisitions, acquisition of hardware, software. Ensuring appropriate management of contracts for college wide services.

o Ensures proper infrastructure asset and IT lifecycle management processes and planning practices are followed.

\xc2\xb7 Management aspect of a Divisional Leader

o Ensuring IT organization is optimized across different levels.

o Oversees the management of leaders and managers within the IT organization (Enterprise, Project Management, Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Client Delivery)

o Setting departmental and team goals and objectives. Setting personal management level KPIs, following up on senior level development plans, etc.

o Skill development of team to ensure career planning and achieving strategic goals.

o Provide strategic leadership and foster a collaborative culture.

\xc2\xb7 Other related duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for this role?

\xc2\xb7 Master\'s Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Information Technology or other specialization relevant to the duties of the position.

\xc2\xb7 Minimum of fifteen (15) years\' progressive IT experience working in multi-level, complex environments and interacting at a C-Suite strategic level.

\xc2\xb7 Eight to ten (8-10) years\' experience leading a Technology Team, preferably public sector organization.

\xc2\xb7 Senior level experience with technology architecture, implementation, and strategy at a large-scale corporate or public sector organization.

\xc2\xb7 Overall knowledge of high-level software implementations (both business roll outs and cyber security roll outs) as well as associated software / hardware requirements.

\xc2\xb7 Thorough understanding of the industry and industry developments

\xc2\xb7 Understanding with people and project management for setting appropriate and achievable project and personal KPIs that maintain alignment with strategic plan of the organization.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to make decisions regarding individual technology roll outs, resource planning, structure resourcing.

\xc2\xb7 Strong people management skills and a passion for leading, mentoring and scaling teams to reach their full potential.

\xc2\xb7 Sound judgement and the ability to assess and evaluate information to make decisions without guidelines or precedent is critical in this position.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to create and maintain effective relationships and working partnerships within and outside an organization.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while dealing with conflicting demands and deadlines.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated leadership in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our college.

\xc2\xb7 Strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills.

\xc2\xb7 Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.

\xc2\xb7 Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
