What You Will Do:





Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development the

Vice President, Government Relations & Communications

will lead the development and execution of comprehensive strategies to influence public policy, foster stakeholder engagement, and enhance the company's reputation. This role is critical in shaping the external environment in which we operate and ensuring alignment with our business objectives, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.



Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Government Relations


Develop and maintain strong relationships with federal, provincial/state, and municipal government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry associations. Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting the energy and utility sector. Advocate for policies that support the company's strategic priorities, including energy transition, infrastructure investment, and environmental stewardship. Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations and communications strategy that aligns with organizational objectives. Facilitate the understanding and alignment on key energy policy developments and positions within TSU. Collaborate with operating teams across Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Alaska to ensure alignment and effective communication. Represent the company in public and industry forums. Identify and assess public policy trends, risks and opportunities that impact the organization. Collaborate with, and support, internal departments and subject matter experts to understand, track, monitor and assess policy changes and their potential impact on TSU's business. Plan, execute and support on ad-hoc projects within the Business Development department.

Corporate Communications


Lead the development and execution of internal and external communication strategies that align with corporate values and business goals. Oversee media relations, crisis communications, executive messaging, and brand positioning. Ensure consistent and transparent communication with stakeholders, including customers, investors, employees, and the public. Prepare briefing materials, position papers, submissions and responses to government consultations. Develop position statements, technical briefing notes and other policy-related content for internal and external use. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support change management and employee engagement initiatives.

Sustainability & ESG


Collaborate with internal teams to integrate ESG principles into corporate strategy and reporting. Lead communications and stakeholder engagement related to sustainability initiatives, climate action, and responsible governance. Monitor evolving ESG regulations and frameworks, ensuring compliance and proactive positioning. Champion the company's sustainability narrative across all platforms, reinforcing its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

What You Will Need to Succeed:





This position has the following occupational requirements:


Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or a related field (master's degree preferred). A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in government relations, public affairs, or corporate communications, preferably within the energy or utility industry and at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.

Proven track record of influencing public policy and managing complex stakeholder relationships. Experience in developing strategic communications materials. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills. High degree of political acumen, judgment and discretion. Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, energy policy, sustainability and ESG trends. Ability to work in a team environment with extensive collaboration and interaction with all levels of the organization.
