The Vice President of Finance and Operations (F&O) is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Novo Nordisk Canada Inc (NNCI) and a member of the Canadian Executive Team. The position reports directly to the NNCI President and leads a team of twenty-five.

The Vice President of F&O leads the development of the affiliate\'s ambition & strategy, business plans, F&O Strategy2Action, in collaboration with multiple stakeholders across the organization, locally and globally. This position also has full oversight responsibility for the NNCI Profit and Loss (P&L). This function defines and leads the strategic agenda for the F&O Department in an increasingly dynamic healthcare environment. This key position is also responsible for representing NNCI externally as needed. This role oversees key contact and relationships with statutory auditors, Canadian Revenue Agency, logistics providers, distributors and wholesalers.

The Vice President of F&O partners and works in close collaboration with the NNCI President, NNCI Executive Team, North America SVP of Finance, and the North America President to influence operational plans, budgets, strategy and successfully drive NNCI business growth in a sustainable way. This leader creates an environment that develops and retains top-caliber talents and demonstrates a commitment to collaboration across the organization. It serves as an active partner to all NNCI functions and members of the NN Canada Executive Management Team and is responsible for influencing strategy and execution at affiliate level (as member of the Executive Team), and Global level as a member of global teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Executive Management Team at NNCI (ET)

  • Participates in the Management Team, developing, recommending, and implementing strategies and action plans to achieve the goals of the company.
  • Contributes leadership to cross-functional teams, as appropriate, developing, recommending, and implementing short and long-term strategic goals for the company.
  • Liaises with other Executive Management Team members, global company management staff to communicate information, resolve problems and identify corporate priorities.
  • Participates in the general management of the company, making policy, strategic and operational decisions as appropriate.
Financial and Risk Management
  • Oversight of full NNCI P&L.
  • Presents financial results and projections to Executive Team (ET), Novo Nordisk in Canada Board of Directors, Regional Office and Headquarters, as appropriate.
  • Leads discussions with ET that define overall financial strategies for the Affiliate.
  • Provides financial consultation and advice to improve decision making and business performance including: existing brands, new product launches, strategic alliances and projects.
  • Establishes financial strategies for achieving Finance CSF\'s and KPI\'s.
  • Assesses risk profile of the Affiliate and adopts practices that mitigate potential risks.
  • Establishes and maintains the company\'s system of internal financial controls.
  • Develops and implements financial and accounting policies and procedures for: accounts payable, payroll, procurement, fleet management, taxation, financial reporting, corporate forecasting and budgeting, supply chain management and IT.
  • Acts as an Officer of Novo Nordisk in Canada, complying with Company policies and local laws.
  • Oversees adherence to local and global tax responsibilities which include transfer pricing, corporate tax and indirect tax outcomes. This ensures effective management of all Canadian Federal & Provincial compliance, Research and Development incentives and compliance with the Canadian Federal and Provincial governments, financial reporting and forecasting on all tax related areas.
  • Provides input to Regional/Global tax strategy development, as requested, and ensures compliance with Corporate Taxation policies, guidelines, and Canadian tax law.
  • Ensures cash management practices are in compliance with Company Treasury policies and guidelines.
  • Contributes to business practices that enhance working capital performance.
  • Approves annual Accounts (\xe2\x80\x9cA\xe2\x80\x9d questionnaire) as part of year end reporting to HQ.
  • Liaises with outside auditors, lawyers, and consultants, as appropriate.
  • Provides strategic direction for the Finance function to optimize the value contribution to the Company.
  • Ensures capable leadership is in place for the Finance function, with appropriate deployment of resources, aligned with Novo Nordisk in Canada business needs.
  • Oversee pricing strategy and compliance with PMPRB rules.
  • Oversee collaboration with key stakeholders in global pricing and anticipate reference pricing considerations.
  • Oversight of PLA agreement execution and coordination with Trade team for relevant planning.
Supply Chain (SC)
  • Provides strategic direction for the Supply Chain function to optimize the value contribution to the Company.
  • For outsourced Third Party Licensed provider functions, ensure that a satisfactory Distribution Agreement is in place and provide executive oversight for optimizing performance under the agreement.
Information Technology (IT)
  • Provides strategic direction for the IT function to optimize the value contribution to the Company.
  • Ensures IT processes are in place to manage the technology platform and systems in compliance with Corporate standards and Novo Nordisk Canada needs.
Department Leadership
  • Provides overall leadership and management of F&O Department that leads to value creation.
  • Provides direction to F&O management related to departmental goals and priorities.
  • Provides direction and strategic oversight on a wide range of business and scientific issues to ensure that team resources will be optimized, and priorities will be continually reviewed.
  • Provides a strategic mindset to anticipate the long-term implications of shifting dynamics on the business and on various constituencies and proactively influence stakeholders.
  • Represents Novo Nordisk Canada at external Pharma CFO Forum.
  • Fosters cross-functional collaboration and facilitates communication within, and out of F&O department, provides expert level support and guidance cross-functionally on issues related to the F&O Department.
  • Leads and manages a diverse group of professionals with varied functional expertise to mold an effective team and expand its capabilities. Builds a collaborative team environment that holds everyone mutually accountable for overall success.
  • Maintains and champions quality mindset in all business processes within F&O Department.
  • Monitors performance of, and proactively manages the departmental budget.
  • Oversees the review, assessment and revision of relevant policies and SOPs.
  • Participates actively on key committees, including Pricing Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certifications

University degree with specialization in finance or accounting.

CPA/CA required or equivalent designation.

Work Experience

10+ years of experience in a financial and people leadership role is preferred. Previous experience as a senior leader preferred.

Superior strategic/tactical planning experience within a pharmaceutical environment is required.
