Job Description

The Vice President, Business Technology Solutions (BTS) provides strategic vision and leadership for developing and executing Seaspan Shipyards' enterprise technology strategy. The VP is a partner to the business and ensures technology initiatives effectively enable the company's short- and long-term business goals.




The VP will build strong, trusted partnerships with the executive team and business leaders across Seaspan Shipyards to identify, prioritize, and deliver technology solutions that drive operational excellence, innovation, and business performance. The leader will ensure seamless integration, implementation, change management, adoption, and ongoing support of enterprise systems and infrastructure.




The VP is the executive that leads the Seaspan Shipyards IT function. The executive leads an organization of professionals who serve the business. The executive will champion a culture of leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement while scaling technology capabilities, maturing cybersecurity, and leveraging data and analytics to support informed decision-making across the enterprise.



Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.



What you'll do



Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership


Develop and execute the long-term enterprise technology strategy aligned with business priorities. Lead the IT technical operational and sustainment functions to ensure all systems are up to date, perform well, and provide high availability to support the business. Act as a strategic advisor to the CFO and executive leadership team, providing proactive cross functional leadership on technology, digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), operational enablement, and risk management. Champion Seaspan's culture of Leadership and Accountability, aligning BTS initiatives with the company's most critical business priorities and operational mandates. Develop a strong partnership with related transformational functions at Seaspan including; Digital Transformation Office, Innovation Team, and the Washington Group IT team. Partner with our IT vendor community to deploy and support systems, bring subject matter expertise to the organization, and solve issues.



Program & Project Governance


Lead major enterprise system initiatives--including ERP, MRP, data platforms, system sustainment, and infrastructure modernization--with strong change management and adoption practices. Provide executive oversight to the Project Management Office to ensure disciplined delivery of complex, cross-functional technology programs. Drive continuous improvement and process optimization across systems, workflows, and service delivery.

Technology Operations, Cybersecurity & Governance


Ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing technology operations. Establish technology roadmaps and system architectures aligned with enterprise standards, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and security. Strengthen cybersecurity posture, governance, and IT risk management practices to safeguard business continuity and protect critical assets. Continuously enhance and enforce policies, standards, and controls to drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistent service delivery.

Data Management


Expand capabilities in data management to support strategic insight and operational performance. Drive enterprise data governance and ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity in reporting and decision support systems. Partner with the Seaspan Analytics team to deliver reporting value to the organization



Leadership & Talent Development


Build and develop a high-performing technology organization, fostering expertise in cybersecurity, enterprise systems, architecture, and data, to support digital transformation. Empower and mentor teams, remove barriers to execution, and promote collaboration across business units.

What you'll bring



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree an asset. 20+ years of progressive IT leadership experience supporting complex, multi-site industrial or manufacturing environments. Minimum 10 years leading large-scale technology portfolios and enterprise transformation initiatives. Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership in high-growth and continuous improvement environments. Proven experience in ERP/MRP operations, system lifecycle management, integration architecture, and enterprise reporting. Strong background in capital and operational budget planning and execution. Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capability. Strong analytical mindset, financial acumen, and data-driven decision-making. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams and drive cultural change. Demonstrate a good understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities in a manufacturing business setting. Calm, composed leadership under pressure and during rapid change. Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Benchmarks performance against industry best practices and pursues excellence in technology and process efficiency.

The estimated salary for this position is $270,000 - $330,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
