The Surgery On-Call Veterinary Technician role at Capital City is designed to provide essential support to our surgeons

after hours Monday through Friday

, and

around the clock on Saturdays and Sundays

. There are no scheduled in-hospital hours while you draw a full salary and you're only expected to work when emergency procedures take place outside of regular business hours. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity!

More specific details of the role are included below.

Performing veterinary technician duties such as (but not limited to):

Create anesthetic protocols under direction from the surgeon or ER DVM Create and complete anesthetic sheets and prepare medications required for surgery Preparing patients for surgery Induction and monitoring patients under general anesthesia Recovering patients from general anesthesia Setup and take down of induction stations, OR, prep, radiology and pack area Setup and take down prep and OR anesthetic machines and monitors (+/- radiology) Communication with team members Review invoice charges for surgery and adjust with surgeon as needed Cleaning all areas utilized for surgery Cleaning, disinfection and wrapping of various surgical instruments Knowledge of advanced procedures (jugular catheters, drum line and nasogastric tubes) Assisting with any postoperative patient requirements
