We are a privately owned non-corporate veterinary hospital located in Campbellford, 40 minutes from Cobourg, Peterborough and Belleville on the Trent River. We are seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our friendly team for a 13-month maternity leave coverage. We are a pet-centered clinic where the needs of our patients are the most important aspect of our work.
This role is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to advance their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate may be eligible to convert to a permanent full-time employment role within our clinic at the conclusion of the contract, contingent on strong performance and business need.
We also have a focus on pain management and rehabilitation, with our DVM certified in rehabilitation, acupuncture and a pain practitioner.

Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
Operate X-ray machines and other diagnostic devices as required.
Communicate with clients and staff regarding patients' needs, including treatment and disease processes.
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures.
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
Monitor animal patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Handle animals safely and compassionately to minimize stress during examinations and treatments.
Provide empathy, compassion, understanding and emotional support to clients.
Maintain confidentiality
Requirements
Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician is an asset.
Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
Compassionate nature with a genuine love for animals.
Experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting is an asset.
