Job Summary

Virden Animal hospital seeking a compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. The position is as full time position starting January 5, 2026. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for pet owners, providing exceptional customer service while managing the administrative tasks necessary for the smooth operation of our veterinary clinic. This role requires a genuine love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care. Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed. Process payments and handle billing inquiries with professionalism. Assist veterinary staff with laboratory tasks as required, including sample collection and preparation for testing. Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. Provide clients with educational materials on pet care and wellness as needed. Handle any client concerns or complaints with empathy and resolve issues promptly.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in veterinary related fields is a plus. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal care setting and/or reception is preferred but not required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, must maintain a warm, friendly, yet professional appearance and demeanor. Proficiency in using Cornerstone software and scheduling system is an advantage. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. A genuine passion for animal welfare and client service is essential. The candidate has to be willing to travel to and work at Virden Animal Hospital from January 5 - 30, 2026 as part of training.
