Veterinary Nutritionist (Board Certified or Residency-Trained)
to lead and grow our Nutrition Service and support our interdisciplinary teams in providing customized, evidence-based nutritional care for our patients.
About the Role
As our Veterinary Nutritionist, you will play a critical role in clinical case consultation, nutrition-focused patient management, therapeutic diet formulation, and hospital-wide education. You will collaborate closely with specialists in internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, surgery, critical care, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, neurology and other disciplines to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical nutrition consultations and individualized dietary plans for hospitalized and referred patients
Develop nutrition protocols and support therapeutic feeding strategies across all departments
Collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and client services to integrate nutrition into comprehensive treatment plans
Guide formulation of home-cooked or commercial therapeutic diets as appropriate
Educate and train staff on current topics in veterinary nutrition
Contribute to client education and follow-up support when appropriate
Participate in hospital rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions
Support the development of nutritional services for long-term growth
Qualifications
Board Certification (ACVN or ECVCN) or residency-completion in Veterinary Clinical Nutrition
DVM (or equivalent) with eligibility for licensure in Ontario
Strong clinical interest in small animal or mixed-species nutrition (tailor as needed)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Passion for teaching and mentorship
