Veterinary Receptionist/ Veterinary Assistant
to join our new general practice on a full-time basis. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and a pet loving individual to join us in a very important support role for the entire hospital. In this role, you will help our clients and their pets feel welcomed and appreciated, support the smooth running of our facility and assist our Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technologists.
Responsibilities
The successful Veterinary Hospital Assistant will be expected to:
Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet families, remaining polite and respectful in all interactions and providing exceptional customer service.
Answer a multiline phone system, effectively track and book and follow-up appointments utilizing a courteous and caring approach as well as provide knowledgeable non-medical information to clients.
Respond to and manage email correspondence from clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages.
Perform a variety of medical and office administrative office tasks, including but not limited to assisting in admitting and discharging pet patients; creating estimates, managing invoicing and processing payments; manging hospital inventory; receiving, sorting, distributing, posting mails, as well as other ad hoc administrative roles.
Provide support to Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technologists with various medical appointments and other tasks and treatments as needed / scheduled.
Possess the ability to practice safe holding techniques to maximize patient comfort while ensuring the safety of themselves and those around them at all times.
Look after general housekeeping duties including cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, exam rooms and other staff and client common areas
About You - Qualifications and skills
Our ideal Veterinary Hospital Assistant would possess the following:
Genuine care and compassion towards pets and their owners and a commitment to represent a gold standard of care.
Veterinary Medical Assistant Program Certificate is an added advantage.
Proficiency in EzyVet or any other Hospital management software is a plus.
Previous customer service or front desk experience in medical hospitality is an asset.
Excellent computer skills and ability to adapt to new technology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Possess a strong ability to be organised, multitask, carry out assignments independently and prioritize effectively.
Ability and willingness to learn and practice safe handling techniques in conjunction with clinic health and safety protocols.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to a fast-paced environment/changes.
A high attention to detail and a proactive ability to plan, communicate and organize what's needed for the smooth running of a workday.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborate as a team.
Ability to take up weekend and evening shifts.
