Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist / Assistant to join our Weekend team.

Shifts may vary as both day shifts and evening shifts are needed.

Unique cross-trained role, you will be the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, provide exceptional customer service while ensuring a smooth flow of operations within all areas our fast-paced hospital.

The ideal candidate will bring previous veterinary clinic experience, a passion for animals and strong communication skills that will help create a welcoming environment for both clients and their pets. This mixed role will have you mixing traditional receptionist tasks with patient care and animal husbandry duties as needed.

Duties

Assist with client inquiries over the phone with the ability to effectively triage medical concerns. Promptly greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, and relevant communications. Process payments and manage billing inquiries, including end-of-day reports with attention to detail. Assisting RVT's and veterinarians with animal handling and procedures. (Knowledge of proper animal restraint is an asset). Animal husbandry such as cleaning kennels, feeding and walking hospitalized patient. General cleaning including laundry, medical equipment/ instruments, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and following proper disinfectant protocols.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members in stressful and sensitive situations. Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling, record keeping and communication. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Has the physical ability to lift up to 40-50lbs. A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory procedures is a plus but not mandatory.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 20 per week
