Overview

Pembina Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time/ casual Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a privately owned, general practice and 24-hour emergency hospital that sees patients from all over Manitoba. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Registered Veterinary Technologists and Veterinarians in ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal patients.

Duties

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures using proper animal restraint techniques. Assist RVT's in multiple areas including: blood draws, radiographs, preparing patients for surgical procedures and many other various treatments and procedures. Provide compassionate care to animals, ensuring their comfort and cleanliness, including medically monitored walks for hospitalized patients. Delicate and precise handling of deceased patients. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing equipment and managing supplies as well as keeping up with general cleaning duties and hospital laundry.

Qualifications

Candidates with previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a similar role will take precedence. Strong interest in animal care and welfare with a keen eye for detail. Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interact with clients and team members effectively as well as in a kind and compassionate manor. Strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and accuracy. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed.
