Hillcrest Animal Hospital has proudly served the pets and people of Quinte West for over 40 years. We are a busy, well-established practice with two full-time veterinarians, regular locum support, and a dedicated team of seven support staff working in a fully equipped 6,000 sq. ft. facility.

Position Overview

As a Veterinary Assistant, your focus will be on creating an exceptional patient and client experience while supporting veterinarians, RVTs, and the hospital team.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist veterinarians and RVTs with appointments and procedures, including surgery Provide compassionate patient care (walking, feeding, monitoring, and assisting with restraint for procedures such as IV catheter placement, radiographs, and surgery) Maintain high standards of patient care and hospital cleanliness Perform general housekeeping duties, including equipment sterilization and disinfecting exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and common areas Admit and discharge patients Create invoices and build client estimates Place outbound follow-up calls and schedule future appointments Manage email correspondence in a timely and professional manner Cross-train and assist at the front desk as needed Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting Veterinary Assistant / ACA Diploma an asset, but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
