works closely with the Veterinary Radiologists and the Radiology Technicians providing diagnostic imaging services to inpatients and outpatients. The position entails handling of patients for imaging (such as ultrasound), and communicating with clients, veterinarians and veterinary staff. The radiology assistant directly assists with ultrasonography, radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the service in its overall communication with other areas of the hospital
Communicates efficiently and effectively with clients, referring veterinarians, CWVS doctors and staff
Ensures supply inventory is sufficient to meet the needs of the service
Assists in restraining of patients so that the Specialist or Technician can perform procedures effectively
Ensures that written communications including referrals, telephone messages and emails are dealt with in a timely manner
Ensures that procedures are accurately documented in advance of daily invoicing
On direction from individual doctors in the service, obtains information from or disseminates information to referring veterinarians and their practice staff, clients, CWVS doctors and staff, vendors etc.
Thorough understanding of all procedures and protocols within the radiology service as well as the ability to use all equipment (including CT, ultrasound, radiography and fluoroscopy) safely and effectively
Ability to review medical images for quality control (such as reviewing radiographs and confirming whether the images are of diagnostic quality)
Use and management of hospital PACS systems
Greet and offer assistance to clients
Coordinates admissions and discharges of patients to the service
Willing to go above and beyond to exceed client expectations
Responsible for keeping service areas clean and organized
Assist in anesthesia/sedation induction and monitoring under the supervision of the Specialist or Technician
Responsible for setting up procedures and cleaning of the Radiology equipment

Graduate of an accredited program for Veterinary Assistants or equivalent experience preferred

WORKING HOURS
4, 10-hour shifts per week
As a member of the overall CWVS team, you may be required to assist in other areas of the hospital when your service is not in need of you or if the doctor on the service is away. This could involve working any shift within the twenty-four-hour operating day of the hospital, including weekends and holidays.
