Veterinary Assistant

Kawartha Animal Hospital is looking for a positive, dedicated veterinary assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate would have some veterinary hospital or animal experience, or a veterinary assistant diploma. The position primarily entails various cleaning duties throughout the hospital, helping with inventory, assisting on reception, some seasonal outside assistance such as watering plants or shoveling snow on the steps, and helping the technicians and veterinarians as needed. We are looking for someone with a fun, positive attitude, who is interested in learning new skills. Attention to detail and the ability to organize your own work, and to work in a team environment are crucial. The hours are M-F 8-5:15pm, with a 1 hour, unpaid lunch.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with animals preferred
- Knowledge of animal behavior, nutrition, and health care
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work well in a team environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 44 per week
