Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both pets and staff. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and are looking to grow their skills in a veterinary setting.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by holding animals and providing necessary instruments. Prepare animals for surgery, including administering pre-operative medications and monitoring vital signs. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations. Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files as needed. Ensure cleanliness of the clinic by sanitizing examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' health and care instructions. Assist in the management of inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels. Support the team in educating pet owners about preventive care, nutrition, and wellness.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a veterinary assistant is required. Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Compassionate attitude towards animals with a strong desire to provide excellent care.

Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
