The Pacific Cat Clinic has an opening for a Veterinary Assistant in a full-time position. We are a busy cat clinic that focuses on high quality medicine and are AAHA certified. We have a strong emphasis on diagnostics and supporting the bond between cats and their human family members. You will work in all areas of the hospital from treatment room, examination room to office.

The animal care part of the position:
This involves assisting the veterinarians and animal health technologists with tasks such as holding patients for examinations, taking radiographs, assisting with the anesthesia and preparation of surgical patients, preparation of supplies, equipment and surgical packs, administering medications, preparing lab samples, performing minor treatments and basic diagnostic tests and providing nursing and comfort care to hospitalized pets, as well as the kittens in our adoption program and maintaining accurate medical records of all procedures so that an accurate invoice is produced. After appropriate training, assisting veterinary technicians with dental cleanings and radiographs, grooming, catheterization, venipuncture and sample collection may be included duties.
The client care part of the position:
This involves providing back up support to the client care coordinator by processing phone calls, assisting with sales and customer care and education with out-patient appointments, contacting clients for recalls, assisting with the preparation of prescriptions including vaccines, photographing pets and maintaining accurate medical and financial records. After appropriate training admitting and discharge of surgical patients and Medical Care Coordinating duties may be included.
The office support part of the position:
This involves assisting the practice manager as needed with maintenance of inventory, financial records, filing, tidying, organizing in order to maintain a clean staff lunch area, office and pharmacy area during the day. In collaboration with other team members, the Veterinary Assistant will use research and word-processing skills to develop client education materials and plan health care programs.
Training will be provided on the job, as well as through online courses.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
