We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to support our veterinary staff in providing exceptional care to our patients. This role involves working closely with animals, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both pets and clients.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
Maintain accurate medical records, including patient histories and treatment plans.
Provide basic animal husbandry, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
Prepare surgical instruments and assist in surgical procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Ensure cleanliness of the clinic by sanitizing equipment, exam rooms, and common areas.
Interact with clients at the front desk, providing excellent customer service and education on pet care.
Answer the phone in a professional manner to schedule appointments, answer any questions, and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
Enter data into the front office computer system (e.g., phone numbers, appointments, and other data).
Perform receptionist duties such as answering emails, taking messages, and directing calls to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
Experience in kennel management.
Strong skills in animal handling, dog handling, and restraint techniques.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
