Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of veterinary practices. This role involves providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in various tasks related to the care and treatment of animals. The Veterinary Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, exam rooms, and surgical areas. Provide front desk support, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Support with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, and exercising animals. Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar positions as well as knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices is preferred but not essential. Experience with animal handling techniques, including dog handling and restraint methods. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is beneficial. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A background in kennel management or equine care is a plus. Commitment to providing compassionate care to all animals.
