CDL provides milestone-based coaching to early stage companies over the course of 9 months with the goal of maximizing the commercialization of hugely impactful scientific or deeply technical breakthroughs and technology cluster development in the region. The program\'s mentors are successful entrepreneurs with years of experience in building and scaling technology-oriented companies.The Creative Destruction Lab-Vancouver (CDL-Vancouver) is housed at the University of British Columbia (UBC).The Venture Analyst oversees, facilitates the delivery and manages several elements of CDL-Vancouver program support services, which includes evaluating and recruiting technology start-ups, developing the portfolio of companies relevant to each stream and delivering programming to help accelerate their growth.Organizational Status
Reports to the Associate Director, Creative Destruction Lab. Works closely and collaboratively with other CDL-Vancouver team members.Work PerformedSupports the CDL-Vancouver recruitment strategy and directly contributes to the CDL programming by identifying, recruiting and evaluating high-quality applicants.Researches, identifies and creates catalogs of centers of innovation in Western Canadian and US universities, venture capital funds, incubators & accelerators and tech associations to build a strong pipeline of CDL-Vancouver applicants for the CDL program.Develops and implements outreach strategy for recruitment of CDL-Vancouver cohorts by managing operational systems and communications.Assists in the development of assessment and evaluation tools for CDL programming.Responsible for the creation, regular update and maintenance of the required learning materials, educational modules and other resources and templates for CDL programming.Contributes to the delivery and execution of CDL programming and attends CDL sessions.Develops audit processes on recruiting to ensure high quality of cohorts.Manages stakeholder and venture candidate information, creates reports and analyzes performance.Analyzes recruiting systems and processes and makes recommendations to yield better services for cohorts.Works with Venture Managers to increase participants\xe2\x80\x99 numbers and generate equity value.Oversees budgets and works with Venture Managers on account management activities.Contributes to the management and development of CDL student venture fund.Supports strategic process improvement initiatives.Creates and reviews various pieces of outward facing collateral and briefing package documents for distribution to both internal and external stakeholders.Performs other duties as required.Consequence of Error/JudgementCDL-Vancouver is a high priority and high-profile initiative for the UBC Sauder School of Business and UBC. Program outcomes can be expected to have a significant impact on UBC Sauder and UBC\xe2\x80\x99s public profile and standing in the eyes of Universities, the startup and technology sector, and the general public in both Canada and USA.In accordance with its agreement with the CDL at the Rotman School of Management, CDL-Vancouver has committed to ambitious short and long-term targets for equity value. Failure to meet this objective will reflect poorly on UBC Sauder, UBC, and the high financial backers, and corporate sponsors who are associating themselves with CDL-Vancouver.Supervision Received
