Chassis Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Product Tech Specialist to join our Product Engineering (PE) team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the design, quality, and performance of vehicle chassis systems meet engineering and customer expectations. The specialist is responsible for validating new model designs, confirming design changes, and leading complex investigations related to mass production challenges. A key aspect of the job involves analyzing complex vehicle assembly concern items, identifying root causes, and driving containment and countermeasure activities to enhance product reliability. Your expertise in mechanical systems, backed by hands-on experience and a commitment to teamwork, will be key to your success in this innovative and rewarding position.
The Pay: $39.87 / hour - $46.17 / hour plus over-time and bonuses.
The Responsibilities:
New Model design and design change confirmation
Lead New Model and Mass Production complex design investigations
Market warranty claim analysis, containment, and countermeasure activities
Dynamic vehicle testing to ensure design and quality targets are achieved
Act as a liaison between HCM, Honda Canada, and R&D
Compile data, analyze trends, and interpret vehicle problem data to drive countermeasure activity
Preparation and presentation of technical / testing document
The Requirements:
Completed post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with a focus on Automotive or minimum 3 years' equivalent related work experience
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel; Use advanced functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), manage and format data
Experience in Manufacturing and Assembly processes
Hands-on experience troubleshooting automotive mechanical, electrical (including high voltage) and vehicle communication systems
-Experience Assembling, disassembling and inspecting above related automobile components
-Use of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, hoists and vehicle diagnostic equipment
-Strong understanding of vehicle suspension and brake systems
-Experience with vehicle data acquisition testing hardware and software
Job Related Must haves:
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice with a valid Canadian Passport or B1 Visa
Willing and able to work overtime on short notice, including scheduled shutdowns
Willing and able to work flexible shift rotation
Valid 'G' driver's license
Support Genba activity when required
Willing and able to support other PE categories
Willing to complete yard sweeps and production support
Preferred Experience:
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems utilizing tools such as vernier caliper, bore gauge, microscope & shadow graph
Excellent organizational skills - ability to manage multiple conflicting demands
Demonstrated a quantitative and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects / assignments requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches
Demonstrated experience with CAD software's for mechanical design, interpretation, and/or analysis (e.g. Catia, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Control Tools including FTA, FMEA and statistics/SPC
Knowledge of vehicle communication theory and related monitoring systems
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders and all levels of management
Demonstrated previous experience preparing and delivering technical presentations and reports
Working knowledge of test equipment / software (NVH / data acquisition / load cell / torque analysis/ powertrain systems)
