True Mechanical is looking to hire a Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Designer. The ideal candidate is curious, motivated, and possesses outstanding attention to detail. This person should be a critical thinker and have the ability to complete personal tasks and successfully collaborate in a team environment. The best-fit candidate will be method-oriented and should have a positive attitude that endorses the value of VDC. Knowledge of plumbing and HVAC design is required.




Responsibilities




Develop and maintain mechanical 3D models in Revit and 2D drawing sets in AutoCAD. Review Domestic Water, Hydronic and Mechanical Room Schematics and Floor Plans, along with all other building design disciplines' drawings (Arch, Struct, Elec). Work with the Field Managers and Director teams to provide coordinated, constructible layout drawings and/or spool maps to the site crews for field installation. Create fully modelled Mechanical Rooms with all Equipment, Valves, and Accessories. Designs should follow best practice piping standards and provide adequate allowances for service and maintenance. Review construction documents, product literature, specifications, and cut sheets for various mechanical equipment. Participate in coordination and project-related meetings. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, site personnel, and other professionals.



Required Work Experience




At least 2 years of recent work experience in mechanical systems (plumbing & HVAC).

Required Skills




Experience in the design of mechanical building systems (HVAC and plumbing). Experience in 3D modeling using Revit. Capable of reading and understanding construction documents (drawings, specifications, and shop drawings). Able to identify conflicts with the architectural, structural, and other MEP trades and present well-thought-out and cost-effective solutions. Familiar with applicable local codes, standards, and industry practices. Highly organized and able to multitask effectively. Able to communicate effectively with consultants, project managers, and field crew members. Adaptable and committed to learning. Knowledgeable of good field practices in plumbing and HVAC.



Experience with the following software will be considered an asset:
