Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 (dependent on experience)
Candidate Profile
RJC is seeking self-motivated problem solvers pursuing careers in engineering better buildings for the communities we live, learn, work and play in. Our work expands diverse disciplines, including building enclosure engineering, structural engineering, structural restoration, structural glass engineering and building energy modelling, RJC Engineers (RJC) is one of Canada's leading engineering firms.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the discipline, the duties will vary, but may include:
Assist with developing preliminary and detailed structural design concepts
Perform structural analysis for new and/or existing building components under various loading conditions
Prepare design checks, quality compliance, and technical reports
Develop drawings, specifications, and tender documents for structural and restoration projects
Conduct site visits, field evaluations, and participate in construction and client meetings
Review shop drawings and coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants
Manage structural restoration projects and complete condition assessments
Prepare structural restoration drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents
Collaborate on building envelope solutions, thermal calculations, and sustainability-focused projects (LEED, Passive House, BC Step Code, etc.)
Participate in client requirement meetings and assist with project costing and value analysis
Support construction contract administration and oversee work during construction phases
Engage in site assessments and prepare reports and studies for new and/or existing buildings
Work closely within project teams through all stages of design and construction
Receive mentorship from industry experts to grow technical and professional skills
Professional Qualifications & Experience
EDUCATION
Civil/Structural Engineering Degree from an accredited university - courses in concrete, steel, wood design, building sciences, building performance; OR applied science (civil/buildings, mechanical)
Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineer with EGBC
EXPERIENCE
0-2 years of civil/structural design experience
SKILLS
Strong attention to detail and produce error-free work
Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
Ability to conceptualize structural and architectural details in three dimensions
