POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Driver provides pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients & customers by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties. Vehicle Operation (80%)
Ensures the safe and careful handling of all deliveries, donations, kettle & other funds while protecting property, including donations & vehicles
Takes responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicle and bailer, & records of suchMaintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts
Pick-ups and delivers donations to the warehouse
Coordinates and oversees pick-ups of recyclable goods
Performs circle checks of trucks and maintains truck logs
Loads and unloads goods at the warehouse, destinations, and other storage facilities
Provides customers and donors with courteous and diplomatic service
Warehouse operations (15%)Operates bailer efficiently and safely as part of the textile recycling program
Participates in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse
Supports warehouse team by participating in receiving, processing and production of donated goods.
Organizational (5%)Hosts and supports volunteers when required
Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive culture in the warehouse and actively builds a culture of respect and teamwork.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:Works under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager and in cooperation with the Community Engagement and Resource Manager, Corps Officers, and Management team.
Governance Boards and Councils: Retail Leadership Team
Internal: Warehouse Mission Partners at assigned Store, other Mission Partners External: Donors/Supporters
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:Reports to Thrift Store Manager
No direct reports to the role
May show others how to perform certain procedures e Provides input on employment-related decisions within established guidelines
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:Considerable material responsibilities (proper safekeeping of donations, proper driving/operating of truck and bailer)
Responsible for use of own resources.
Slight input regarding departmental budget related to the scope of the role.
WORKING CONDITIONS:The incumbent will work in assigned Thrift Store location (both retail store and warehouse/sorting areas) .

Work schedule may impact life (weeknights & weekends)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Qualifications and Certifications:Completion of high school diploma
Valid BC class "5" license with appropriate certification
Forklift Certification
First Aid Certificate
WHMIS Certificate
Proof of clean driving record.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:At least one year of driving and warehouse experience required.
Skills and Capabilities:Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
The ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.99 to $23.73 with a maximum of $28.48.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
