As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Validation Manager to join our dynamic team on-site in our Calgary facility. THE ROLE Under the direction of the VP, Operations, the Validation Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance and quality of our products and processes. You will be responsible for managing the validation activities across our organization, ensuring that all validation activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Production, to drive validation strategies, develop protocols, execute validation studies, and ensure successful project completion. DAY-TO-DAY Develop and implement validations strategies, plans, and protocols for new products, processes, and equipment ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards Write, issue and maintain Validation Master Plans and Calibration Plans - Coordinate meetings related to execution of the Validation Master Plan
- Write validation procedures, protocols and reports
- Perform validation activities described in validation protocols including thermal studies, equipment, process and utilities validation Oversee the execution of validation studies including process validation, cleaning validation, and equipment validation, to ensure they are conducted accurately and efficiently - Clean Room Qualification Activities for classified Areas and LAF Units Support implementation of validated system change requests and resolution of process deviations through technical knowledge, execution of supporting validation studies, and manufacturing documentation review and approval - Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure that validation requirements are integrated into product and process development activities
- Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams regarding validation principles, requirements, and best practices
- Review and analyze validation data, identify trends, and recommend appropriate corrective actions or process improvements
- Prepare validation summary reports for the qualification and validation of systems used Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to validation, and ensure compliance with current standards - Ensure current knowledge of validation requirements, practices and procedures
- Work with validation and metrology contractors when required
- Interact with production and quality departments to facilitate protocol execution as necessary Participate in regulatory inspections and audits, providing necessary documentation and support as required - Foster a culture of quality and compliance within the organization promoting continuous improvement initiatives, and driving a proactive approach to validation activities IDEAL FIT Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Biotechnology) or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Validation and Calibration (preferably within the pharmaceutical industry) with a thorough understanding of validation principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing validation protocols, analyzing data, and generating validation reports
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies (e.g., FMEA, HACCP) and statistical analysis tools
- Experience and demonstrated ability to read P&ID, Isometric and "as built" drawings Skills and Attributes Able to: - solve practical problems
- interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- work with mathematical concepts
- apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- clearly and concisely convey complex concepts and information - Excellent verbal (i.e., advanced English) and written (i.e., technical writing, computer conversant) communicator and collaborator with strong time management skills
- Actively seeks to understand other departments? workload, priorities, and issues in order to maintain validation schedule
- Works effectively to plan, schedule, and prioritize all facets of daily activities and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Comfortable with multi-tasking and adaptable to changing priorities within a team-oriented entrepreneurial environment demonstrating initiative and willingness to go above and beyond
- Able to remain calm under pressure and make informed decisions quickly and collaboratively
